Charming Projects

November is here, and I'm set to work on the next round of projects. This month I am committing to finishing the tops for two older block of the month's that have sat idle for way too long. The first is Baking Day by Lynda Hall (Primitives by Lynda):

The second is a shop BOM from either last year or the year before! It is a Jacob's Ladder done in (mainly) the beautiful Worn and Loved line of fabric I fell completely in love with! This should look wonderful once done. I can't for the life of me remember if I decided to add a border or not- so I have to go searching in the fabric drawers and see if I did buy yardage. This is one quilt that doesn't really need to be bordered,so either way it will be nice to have it done and off the "to-do" list!

I am also pretty much on target with the Half Pint Sew Along! I really like the softness of the 9-patch top. I wasn't sure, but it does work....

Now to decide if I really like the plain red HST border, or should I "follow directions" and make the scrappy red ones??

Comments please! All thoughts will be appreciated.

I'm off to stitch!

Ilike what your showing there, maybe you need more to decide will it be overbearing?
if so then it needs to be scrappy :)
can't wait to see what you decide

Love your November projects and way to go with your Half Pint. I like the scrappy HST border myself ... your choice of fabric is so beautiful ...

Completely in love with the Lynda Hall project-- great colors... can you tell me more about it?

Thanks for the comments so far everyone. I too am thinking that the red border is going to be overwhelming! I'm going to make the scrappy HST's this weekend and that will be the final test!

As for the Lynda Hall project- Baking day is a BOM I did through Homestead Hearth. I used to do alot of BOM's with them, until they started to pile up. Time just gets away from me...
The colors are deep and primitive - just the way I like them and there are homespuns, plaids etc. For anyone who knows and loves Lynda's work, this is just so like her. Even better it was so like me! The blocks are big- 15" and the top is going to go together like a dream. Can't wait to share the finished project!!

it has a delicate feel to it when it is scrappy. so hope you also make the scrappy binding. i have recently discovered Homestead & have to be careful that i don't sign up for too many. so far working on one. but just signed up for another.

You certainly have been busy with lots of great projects. I think I prefer a scrappy border as well, but the plain one you showed does have punch.

Love your red and white half pint. I am doing red/white or red/tan...haven't started it yet though :(

Nice projects. Now see I would do the red and white border. I think it is striking and frames it all so well. But then, red IS my favorite color. ;)

The Baking Day BOM is wonderful. Love those prim tones. I just did a nine patch so similar to the Half pint project I couldn't bring myself to join but I have to say they are turning out so cute I'm a bit jealous. LOL!

OMG -- love the red and white fabrics! So pretty. I'm a scrappy girl, but I think the solid works, too! I can't wait to see which you choose!

LOL...still conflicted, Kelly!
But closer....
haven't been able to sew for a week and a half, so am getting behind. BUT that is ok. Imagine...no stress about not keeping up- I must be ill!
Can't wait to get back to my Half Pint
